Use of the Media Center
The Media Center has books for research and for recreation as well as magazines. Students may use these resources before school, after school and during the lunch period. They may also use them during class times at their teacher's discretion.

The Media Center is available for group study, student meetings etc. at these times as well.

The computers in the Media Center are connected to the internet and students may use them after having signed a user agreement and meeting with the technology specialist. While in the Media Center students are expected to take care of the books, computer furnishings etc. as well as maintain appropriate levels of self discipline and respect for others as outlines in the student handbook. Any student found defacing school property, or acting in a way not considered appropriate by TCHS standards will be suspended from the Media Center.  Student Acceptable Computer Use Policy

Printers are available to students to print school related material only. If students are printing any material which the Media Specialist feels are inappropriate, these materials will be confiscated.  The printer is located at the circulation desk and is assigned printer number 5-100. Students may print 5 sheets of paper (must be schoolwork related) per day from the Media Center printer at no charge. Additional pages cost 5 cents each. Students are encouraged to print double sided to save paper.

The following items may be borrowed by students working in the Media Center: stapler, scissors, tape, hole punch, ruler, compass, calculator, markers and pencils. Ask the Media Specialist for assistance with these items. Do not take any items from the circulation desk without first asking the Media Specialist.

All students should work quietly so that others are not disturbed, talkers will be asked to leave. Because the Media Center is home to valuable materials and equipment that could be ruined by accidental spills, food and drinks are not permitted.  Cell phone use is prohibited.

Borrowing Items
Students will be assigned a unique patron ID for the purpose of checking out books from the library.

Library books will be checked out for a period of two weeks. They will then need to be renewed or returned or a fine paid ($0.10 per day). Students with fines will have borrowing privileges suspended until the items are returned and the fines paid. Any student with outstanding fines in any amount will not receive their report card.

Books may be limited to one or two nights check out if a faculty member has reserved the book for a class project. This will ensure that all students in a class will have access to the needed resources.

Study Hall
On occasion students may have a supervised study hall in the Media Center. Study Hall is not the same as a free period it is for doing school work. Students who are not working on school projects (homework, outside assigned reading, club activities etc) will be disciplined. Students who are using their programmable calculators or PDA's as video games will have those items confiscated and returned at the Media Specialist's discretion.

Students who need to leave the Media Center during a class period or Study Hall must have a hall pass and sign out using the sign in/out sheet at the circulation desk.

A copy machine is available in the Media Center. The price is 10 cents per copy.
